I almost tripped over the bags in my hand as I hurried down the stairs, but caught myself just in time, and one of the Busco employees noticed and rushed over to offer assistance. I smiled, slightly embarrassed. "Thank you," I replied, gratefully handing over the bags.
We made our way out of the house, and I looked up at the sky as I stepped outside. It was getting dark, the late evening settling in. Zoraya and I had just returned, and I could not shake the guilt I felt for making Keir wait for me the entire time. He was parked out front, just beyond the gate, so I quickened my pace, eager to see him.
