I woke up and felt an emptiness crushing my chest. Adam was nowhere to be found, not even a small note telling me where he might be. I closed my eyes and cried. I cried for the crushed fantasy I had built around how the mate bond should be.
Ever since I was a little girl, I thought I would someday find my mate and that he would be mesmerized by me as much as I would be completely head over heels for him. I fantasized about him barging into my life and crushing every single insecurity and every single fear.
