Ophelia
Once I walked out on the patio, people greeted me and called me Talia. It took me a minute to get my bearings. I had studied the faces of most people attending, so I could engage in polite conversation, but it was awkward as hell despite that.
My eyes looked around, scanning the room, searching for the only one with whom I desired a conversation. His eyes locked with mine, and I felt a jolt of desire, driving me insane; but at the moment, I was Talia, and Talia would never desire her cousin, so instead of getting close to him, I moved away. Against what my body and heart wanted, I avoided being close to him while wearing the charm.
The birthday cake was giant, and the growing-up video was charming. I enjoyed each of the images of him as a child. His bright smile was the same; his b……
