FRANCESCA's POV
I could not breath as the man I assumed was Dante’s father grabbed my chin so we were looking into each other’s eyes. I struggled to keep mine blank so he could not see the terror slamming in my gut at the moment.
His eyes softened for a moment or maybe I must have imagined it before he let go of my chin and he and my father began trading words I did not understand.
One look towards my brother showed that he also was struggling to understand what was going on between the two men but it was clear to me that they knew each other somehow and whatever beef that was going on between them was way more than we could ever know.
My father looked brave… he was almost the same person I remembered who feared nothing and no one; nothing like the broken man who had been tied u……
