Jay POV
The next day, I made my way to the hospital, and realized that Amy and BJ were there. I decided this was as good opportunity as any to ask about Alison.
“How is she doing?” I slumped on a small couch inside her room.
“She is the same, Although the doctor stopped by earlier informing me that later she will have an MRI, if the brain swollen has diminished considerably, he will start lowering her medications to try to wake her up…” Amy said hopeful, and I nodded.
BJ sighed and closed his eyes. “My poor baby, she will come back to devastation…” he said, and I sighed,
“Guys, I need to as you a favor…” I said, and Amy quickly perked up,
“Anything, Jay,” She said in a condescending tone,
“As you know, I was not particularly close to my brother when the accident happened, so I have no idea who Alison is? Where did they meet? How things happened? Or what kind of person she is? Maybe you can shed some light on the questions; that way, I will know how to help her when she wakes…” I said truthfully. BJ rolled his eyes, and Amy nodded.
“What´s with the attitude?” I lifted my eyebrows at BJ, and he defiantly snorted,
“Particularly close…” He mocked my voice, “You were strayed from your f*****g brother. You never cared, and now you want to play the hero. Now that you have guilt corroding you, you want to soothe it by playing the good brother for Allie… Well, let me tell you… She doens´t need you.” BJ said, and I nodded.
He was right, I wanted… No, scratch that; I needed to do this to alleviate my conscience. My deepest motive for being there and keeping her safe, was that I felt by doing so, I was apologizing to my brother for all the crap I have pulled on him.
“You are right, but arguing among us will not help her,” I said, pointing at the unconscious woman lying on the bed.
“Allie is a sister to me…” BJ sighed and slumped in a chair. She is the most kind person I have ever met. She is smart, witty, and fun. She had a sense of humor few would understand, and she loved your brother deeply. She was one hell of a piece of a woman, with integrity and morals that will put you to shame.” BJ said, and I nodded.
I thought so; my brother wouldn´t have settled for anything less. “She is the greatest friend one can have. She has been there for me through thick and thin. She was the one who jumped to help me when nobody would, and in the process,... I met Shane…” Amy was the one who added.
“Alright, but where is her family?” I asked, and Amy sighed,
“We met in foster care when we were pre-teens. Her parents died in an accident, just like yours. I guess Jack and her connected on a deeper level because of that loss. We wired hard and hussled most of our adult life. She and I went to college, and she decided she wanted to be an entrepreneur. She had the drive to achieve everything. Katz Enterprises launched a program for new entrepreneurs and she decided to enroll her little project. Little did she knew, that meeting would change her entire life.” Amy said and I nodded.
“Alright, now I get the picture… Why didn´t they have children sooner?” I asked. If she were a golddigger, she would press the matter and get children involved sooner. Many women used them to trap a man.
“She had three previous miscarriages before this pregnancy. Each one was more devastating than the next. Jack, too, was deeply hurt by the loss of their babies…” Amy sighed, and a tear ran down her cheek. “How ironic life can be. Jack was the one who got more excited about having a baby, and now that there is a real possibility of happening, he is gone.” She choked and I sighed.
Yeah, the f*****g irony of it all.
“So she didn't want to have kids? Jac was the one who wanted’” I asked, and Amy shooked his head,
“No, they both wanted, but after the first miscarriage, Allie was more scared than excited.” Amy sighed, “Losing a baby is a complex thing, one you might not grasp… but whatever you are thinking about her, please don´t. Don´t make me lose respect on the image I hold of you.” Amy said, and stood up.
“I will check with the nurse, they should be taking her away soon for the MRI.” She left the room, and BJ looked at me disapprovingly.
“What?” I lifted my eyebrow.
“Maybe you are not used to this, but, true love exists, and those two loved each other unconditionally. So leave your asshole moves out of this court.” He stood up and left. I had to make a note about keeping my thoughts to myself, especially where Alison Fox is concerned.
They took her away, and later the doctor came to inform us that the brain inflammation was reduced to almost nothing. So he expected her to wake up the next day if everything happened according to plan.
I spent a couple more hours around the hospital and then headed back home. I had a lot to think about. Jack is gone; he was my guide and compass, and tomorrow, his wife will wake, and we still don´t know the damage the accident left behind. Not to consider the high-risk pregnancy and how careful we must be because there is what is left of my brother.
When I entered my place, I was greeted by the amazing smell of freshly baked lasagna. I squinted my eyebrows, and when I entered the kitchen, I gasped. A naked Lana, wearing only a red apron, greeted me.
“I hope you can accept this as my apology,” she said, and I sighed. I was not in the mood to deal with her.
“Please tell me you have more clothes around…” I mumbled and she bit her lower lip.
“Usually you want me with way less than this…” She untied the string of the apron that held it around her neck, baring her newly operated and acquired D-cup breasts.
“Thanks for the food, but I am not in the mood…” I said, sitting on the high chair around the kitchen island. She made her way and turned my chair around.
“Then let me get you in the mood.” She knelt and opened the zipper of my trousers. Damn it, I didn´t want to do it, but who can refuse such an offering.
She gave me a good blowjob, and then I ended up f*****g her in the island. After my most primal needs were sated, I ate and took a shower, somehow what had transpired between Lana and me, didn´t felt right.
She climbed into my bed and fell asleep in no time —until I was awakened by a constant ring on my phone. I groggily answered, “Yes!” The last time I picked up a phone in the middle of the night, it was to find out my brother was dead. In reality, it was about six in the morning, not the middle of the night, but the fact that I got awakened by a phone call brought back to me the memories of that particular night.
“Jay?” It was Amy. “She is up…” she informed me. I looked to my side and saw Lana in my bed and sighed.
“I´m on my way…” I replied and finished the call.
“Where are you going?” Lana asked with a sleepy voice.
“Alison just woke up,” I said, and she rolled her eyes,
“And why do you have to run to her when I am with you? She is your borther´s widow, not your wife…” She protested, and I sighed,
“Look Lana, whatever you think is happening between us is over. I didn´t want you in my place, I didn´t want to have s*x with you today, and I didn´t want you to stay over. So, please, do us a favor, and when I get back, be gone for good. I will text my superintendent to have him change the locks of my place once you leave…” I said, and she gasped,
“You will regret this…” She barked, and I shrugged my shoulders,
“You will not be the first nor the last trying to ruin my reputation… but I can´t overlook that when I was at my lowest, you didn´t care and then tried to take advantage of it with the media…” I paused, “It is not me, but your actions were the ones that spoke volumes…” I finished my rant and entered my bathroom to get changed.
It was time to finally meet the woman, a true enigma, and the one who tamed my brother: Alison Fox.
