The second I walked into the Dean's office, I saw Selene sitting there, her body tense and acting just as stubborn as ever.

She was trying to look calm, but I could feel her frustration through our link since I was her Alpha.

I turned my attention to Marcus, who looked up at me with surprise. His hands twitched on the desk like he wasn't sure what to do with them.

"Professor Alexander," he said, clearing his throat. "What a—unexpected surprise."

I shut the door behind me, crossing my arms over my chest. "Unexpected?" I repeated. "She was called in because of some rumors involving me. I think it's only right that I'm here."

I glanced at Selene, sending her a mind link and asking her if she was okay. But she didn't reply, she only shrugged and looked down.
