I was already on edge when I heard the click of heels approaching and I didn't have to look to know that it was my mother.

Just f*****g great.

I clenched my jaw, my hands curling into fists as she came into view. Dressed in one of her expensive outfits, her hair styled perfectly, she looked like she was here for business. And when she set her eyes on me, I knew exactly what kind of business it was.

“Alexander.” She said. “I’ve been looking for you.”

I gritted my teeth, forcing myself to stay still. “I’ve been busy.”

“Yes, I can see that.” She glanced around, then back at me, her expression unreadable. “We need to talk.”

I sighed and shook my head. “I don’t have time for this.”
