I stepped into my packhouse, inhaling the familiar scent of home, yet it didn’t feel like home. Not anymore. My warriors bowed as I passed, my beta trailed behind me, but none of it mattered.
My mind was somewhere else, somewhere far away, wrapped around the scent of lavender and rain.

A slow smile crept onto my lips, and for the first time in years, I felt… alive. My steps were lighter, my heart raced with something that wasn’t rage or duty, but a desperate, unrelenting need. A need to see her. A need to make her happy. A need to protect her, even if she wasn’t mine to claim.
“We are meant to claim her,” Blaze growled in my head, restless, impatient. “Not protect her from the shadows like a coward.”
