I hurried through breakfast, barely tasting the food as my mind raced. Logan’s words lingered in my head. The project. I knew that wasn’t all there was to it. There was something deeper, something he wasn’t saying. But I was too drained to push further.
As I placed the last bite into my mouth, I heard footsteps approaching. The scent hit me before the door opened, strong, masculine, with a trace of pine and leather.
Logan’s beta stepped in, his eyes glinting with amusement as they darted between Logan and me. There was a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips like he knew something I didn’t.
“Beta,” Logan said, standing straighter. “Finally.”
His presence was sharp and commanding, but there was also a teasing undertone as he crossed his arms and studied me. “So, this is her,” he said, ……
