Diana.
The feeling of giving up on everything, I had it, it was there in my head, my chest, it was all I could think of. But then again, I couldn't just give up because of a man that never valued me in his life.
I knew that I had to stay alive to drag Lucien through the mud of disgrace. “You should step out today miss Diana.” Nadine suggested.
It has been one week since I had found out that there is a huge chance that i might not be able to conceive a child myself. Mostly, I had blamed myself for everything.
It was too late for that though, the damages had been done and I was left destroyed. “I don't know, Nadine.” I answered her.
The zeal to do anything around was gone. Even if I tried to force myself out of this room, I would be hit by the reality and I would cry back to the room. “Well, Miss Diana.” She called out softly, passing a red scarf.
“allow me to make today a good day for you. I promise you that you will enjoy it.” She promised.
I stared at a face for a minutes, thinking if it was truly worth it to just follow her outside. “what about Alpha Valen? Wouldn't he be angry that I went out without him knowing?” I raised a brow.
That man seemed to like making things serious than they should be. “don't worry about it. He would actually be happy to hear that you are out of this room.” She smiled.
And of course, she was just doing her job. Heaving out a sigh, I tied the scarf around my hair before wiping away the sweat on my face and we walked out of the room.
The house was eerily silent as usual, it was because of the fact that the house was big enough to contain an entire pack, then let's not forget about job discreet the workers are.
They walked around the house as if they are tip toeing around like thieves. It made me wonder why, then I realized that Alpha Valen prefers the house quieter than anything.
The dark hallway reminded me of the day that I ha dcome here, I was left I awe, still I was in awe because it was something that I had never set my eyes on. “I will make today goof for you.” Nadine said, with a smile on her face.
Left with no choice, i returned a faint smile to her and we stepped outside the pack house. The cool breeze hit my face softly, and had reminded me so much of when I was blinded by love while I stood outside waiting for the monster.
“I hope you don't mind walking because we aren't going with any car.”
“Don't worry, I can manage.” I answered her.
In the silence, we walked round the pack house, taking a strange turn. It was at the back of the pack house and a bit far but I couldn't questioned her.
I wanted to see where she was going to take me, maybe it would be my new solace. “Can I tell you a story? To keep you company until we get there?”
“Of course, Nadine.” I answered.
It would keep me away from thinking about things that shouldn't matter to me now. So I listened to her carefully. “I came to the pack house to pay the debt of my father.” She sighed.
“Your father's debt?” I repeated again.
She nodded her head. “Father has been known as the man that has been terrorizing the pack and he stole a lot until he was caught. He was the only thing I had left then so I had to step in for him to go and I pay back the debt by working it off.” Nadine explained.
“But I realized that it was the biggest mistake I had to make because it didn't stop him from going back to steal more and in the process, he was killed.” She ended.
While she is still here, paying back the debt of a man that didn't think twice before going back. “You didn't have to compromise your happiness for his freedom.” I reasoned.
I have come across different types of parents and their kids through the years, and I had seen how they always acted. Most of the kids would never stand to stand up and work their asses off for their parents because they believe they aren't worth it. “To me, it wasn't about compromising.”
“It is about keeping the only person you have left close. If he had listened to me and didn't go back there, then we would have been staying in the same house and be the best.” Her voice was low.
Reminiscing the past it difficult and it hits more in her position. “Are you also done paying the debt?” I asked her
Nadine let out a soft chuckle. “I don't even think I am halfway through with the p*****t. He stole most of the pack's treasure and sold it for little money, it was just so stupid of him.”
I nodded in agreement. “what about your education?” indeed following her out here was a good choice because all my worries were slowly drifting away from me.
“I had started a two years program at the pack college but I had to drop out because of this. My intention is to go back the day I am done paying back the debt.” She explained.
Just like that, her deadbeat father made her waste her life away and now, she is here serving people when she would have been something more in his life and hers together. “Wait, you have a short period of time left?”
What I had just asked her must be funny because she erupted into a series of laughter. “I have five more years to go, just to be able to pay back what he stole. It is a long process for me but I am halfway there and can.” She affirmed to herself.
One thing was that I liked her energy and how she does things around her. One word that I can use to described her is cool and collected, which is why she didn't have to go through this all. “We are here.” Nadine announced.
And once again, I was left in awe because I can't believe what is truly this in front of us. I wasn't lying to myself when I said this is a mini heaven!
