My father waited for me in Athena’s office. My father wasn’t the type for social visits. I hadn’t seen him in six months. When I walked into the office he cracked a smile. He wasn’t the type to smile often. I didn’t know which way to interpret this.
“Son, you look good.”
“Dad, what are you doing here?”
He reclined on Athena’s chair like he owned the place. He might as well, considering the amount of money Sanders pack donated to the academy.
He chuckled and stood, “Kade, always straight to the point. How are your preparations for the battle season? You haven’t come home for your ritual.”
My father had started going grey and the laugh lines on his eyes were defined. He was counting on me to take over as alpha as soon as I graduated.
