"Not from celebrities, sir, but from a film. May I inquire why you’re so interested in my name?" Savannah flashed him a flirtatious smile, her eyes glinting with playful mischief. Theo’s expression shifted at the sight of her seductive grin. His gaze burned with an intensity that almost seemed to pull her toward him, as if he wanted to kiss her right there in the classroom. But after a long, lingering moment, he cleared his throat and masked his thoughts.
"Because, Ms. Jones, you only wrote your name on the paper. I’m guessing you like it so much that you wanted to make it stand out. Which movie did your parents name you after?"
Savannah’s smile widened. "Oh, that’s my favorite movie too. It’s about Jennifer, a girl who feeds her desire for human flesh on male students at school. It's worth noting that she eventually murders musicians in the final act of the film." She was referring to the cult classic horror/thriller Jennifer’s Body, starring Megan Fox.
Theo’s lips twitched, and Savannah could see the struggle as he suppressed a laugh. He had watched the film too, and she could tell it amused him to hear her mention it.
Just then, Joyce, the girl who had been glaring at Savannah since she entered the room, interrupted. "Are you teaching us for the whole semester, Mr. Carter?" she asked sweetly, her tone saccharine.
"It depends," Theo replied, but his eyes were still on Savannah. She could feel his gaze, and the tension in the room seemed to thicken. As the bell rang, signaling the end of the class, she stood and began to gather her things.
Before she could leave, Theo called her back. Savannah sighed and rolled her eyes, clearly irritated.
"What brings you here, Theo?" she asked once the classroom had emptied, her voice flat.
"You don’t talk to your teacher like that, Ms. Jones," he said with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. His expression hardened when he glanced at her skirt. "Change your skirt; it’s too short," he ordered.Savannah shot him a sharp look and snapped, "I’m sorry, but you can’t order me around like that."
She turned to walk towards the door, but his voice stopped her. "Never flirt with boys," he warned, his tone serious, though there was still a hint of something deeper in his gaze.
She didn’t meet his eyes. Instead, she kept walking, a small, knowing smile tugging at her lips. She had no idea what game Theo was playing, but she was determined to stay focused on her mission. No matter what, no one—least of all Theo—was going to stand in the way of her success.
Savannah walked into the restroom, expecting a quiet moment to gather herself, but instead, she was met with the glaring eyes of Joyce and her gang. She sighed in frustration, surprised to find herself facing bullies again. After everything she had been through, she had hoped she was done with this kind of nonsense.
Since high school, she had been bullied relentlessly, though it never escalated too far, thanks to the former Alpha's influence. How had she defended herself back then? She had been educated in the school of wolves, one of the very few humans ever allowed to study there. She had learned to hold her own among werewolves, but these girls in front of her? They were just human girls—bullies with no special abilities, and they had no idea who they were messing with.
She had hand-to-hand combat training that could easily handle this situation, but she knew she had to exercise caution. These girls might not be able to heal from a punch the way a werewolf could, and she wasn't about to take things too far.
Joyce sneered at her. "You b***h! Theodore Carter and Wyatt are mine, so stay away from them!"
Savannah's lips curled into a mocking smile. Why is this generation full of such freaks? She chuckled darkly. "You're such a greedy little vixen," she retorted.
Before she could react further, two of the girls grabbed her arms, trying to shove her toward Joyce. Savannah didn’t want to fight them. They were just petty high school bullies, and she didn’t have the time for them. But she also wasn’t about to let them push her around. After all, she knew how to defend herself—these girls needed to be taught a lesson.
In less than a minute, four girls lay groaning on the restroom floor, nursing their bruises. Savannah casually rifled through their bags, memorizing their names and other details, before leaving them behind. She didn’t need to go too far. A little pain was all they needed to think twice before picking on her again.
As she stepped out of the restroom, she found Theo waiting for her. He raised an eyebrow as she approached. "You didn’t kill them, did you?" His voice was amused, but there was a hint of something darker beneath it.
"No way," she said dismissively. "They’re just girls."
Theo frowned, the amusement fading slightly. "What were you doing in there then?"
Savannah glanced at him coolly. "I promised someone I’d accompany him to lunch." She didn’t offer any further explanation, knowing the mere mention of lunch with someone else would set him off.
Theo’s expression darkened, and he let out a low growl that vibrated in the air between them. She smirked, knowing she had riled him up.
"You cannot date a man! You are still married to me!" His voice dropped into a low, urgent whisper, but there was a sharp edge to his words.
Savannah glanced at him, barely containing her amusement. "Says who?" she teased, knowing full well what kind of reaction she was getting from him.
"I am not dating a man, Theo," she said, her tone sharp and teasing. "I’m just having lunch with a boy. There's a huge difference." She let the words hang in the air for a moment before her gaze hardened, her voice turning colder. "And I warned you, Carter, if you come near me again, you’ll regret it."
She watched as his expression flickered with a mix of frustration and something else she couldn’t quite decipher. He opened his mouth to respond, but she cut him off, not giving him the chance.
"I don’t know why you’re here," she continued, her voice unwavering. "But this is definitely not a coincidence. If you ruin this mission for me, I will hate you more than you can imagine."
With that, she turned on her heel and walked away, leaving him standing there. She could feel his eyes on her, but she didn’t dare look back. She didn’t need to. Whatever game Theo was playing, she wouldn’t let him interfere with her goal. She was determined to complete her mission—and no one, not even Theo, would stand in her way.
