Sara’s POV
When the day finally came to leave, I felt a mix of reluctance and relief. Reluctance because, in this small bubble with Mary, things felt almost normal again. Relief because part of me was ready to face reality, to see if we could truly move past what had happened.
The flight back to New York was quiet. Zack tried to hold my hand a few times, but I gently pulled away, needing space. I could see the frustration in his eyes, but he didn’t push it. Maybe he realized that too much had happened for things to simply go back to the way they were.
