Sara’s POV
The rest of the day passed in a blur, my mind fixated on the promise Zack had made. We would talk tonight, he had said. We would figure things out. But the weight of everything left unsaid gnawed at me, making it hard to focus on anything else.
By the time we had returned home from work, I was emotionally drained. The idea of having that long, overdue conversation with Zack loomed over me like a dark cloud, but I wasn’t ready for it just yet. I needed something to take my mind off everything, so I decided to organize some of the documents in Zack’s drawer in our room while waiting for us to talk. It was mindless work, and maybe, just maybe, it would help me keep the rising tide of anxiety at bay.
As I sifted through the stacks of papers, my fingers brushed against something unusual……
