The memories of Javier’s betrayal clung to me like a shadow, pulling me deeper into the pit of anger and confusion. Mostly anger.

The mere thought of it sent a bitter taste flooding my mouth. My pacing grew faster, my bare feet brushing against the cold wooden floor, anxiety clawing at my chest.
