Jeff's POV
"Come in!" I let out. The door opened and Cecilia walked right in. She had some files with her which she dropped on the desk before me.
"These are the files for the meeting tomorrow. I need them signed now so I can send them to the accounting department." She replied and took a seat.
"Alright. I'll do that now." I said and then proceeded to sign. When I was done, I pushed the files gently back and while she reached for them, she placed her hand on mine. I figured it was intentional when she didn't remove it even after looking at her. Instead, she smiled and started rubbing my hand seductively.
"What are you doing Cecilia?" I asked while I quickly took off my hand.
"Nothing, just showing that I care, you're been on and off trips and I think you need someone to look out for you." She retorted.
"That's thoughtful of you, thanks then." I chimed in. I could tell she wanted to say more and I was hoping she wouldn't. She took the files and was leaving at first until I heard the lock on the door click. She locked the door and then came over to my side.
"Jeff, I'm in love with you. I've been in love with you since the first time I walked in here for my interview." She said simply while I was starstruck. I've always noticed she gave me extra treatment but I just thought she was meticulous with her job. I never knew she was actually in love with me.
"Why are you telling me this Cecilia? You're my worker, and you know this is so inappropriate." I let out while I gently took off her hands which she placed on my shoulder.
"I've been holding it in for years but I can't keep it anymore. I love you and I want you, Jeff." She pushed further.
"Cecilia, you're a nice woman, beautiful, and a hard worker. Any man would be lucky to have you but that man isn't me. I don't love you, and I never would. I hope you can place your priorities right moving forward while you look elsewhere for love." I said. I made sure to choose my words wisely and kindly, Cecilia is a good person no doubt and I think it's sometimes normal to catch feelings when working with someone you look up to. That's the case here.
"But Jeffrey, I know what I want and it's you." She pressed again, and I was starting to get pissed off but I just had to be calm in order not to escalate the issue or hurt her.
"I know what I want too, and it's not you but like I said, you're a good woman and I'm sure your man will find you soon." I asserted. Just then, my phone started beeping, I checked and saw it was a call from Belle. I told her I would be back today but she doesn't know I'm around already. Knowing we had unfinished business, I didn't answer her call to avoid Cecilia picking on our conversation.
"But Jeff…" A text message came in from Belle and once I read it, I quickly jumped from my chair. Cecilia was still trying to touch me but I had no time for that. I brushed her aside as I grabbed my things and made for the door.
"Take care, Cecilia, I need to be somewhere!" I said as I opened the door and stormed out.
"But we're still talking, Jeff, Jeff…" Cecilia let out as she came after me but she stopped at the door. I didn't respond or look back but I could tell she was watching me.
As I made for my car, all I could think of was Belle. Her text was a cry for help and it made me wonder what could be wrong with her.
"God, I hope she's not in danger again!" I said as I slammed on the steering wheel. I tried to call her but she wasn't answering, and I was starting to get even more worried. She didn't say where she was in the text and since she's not answering her calls, there was no way I could get to her.
After trying a couple more times, I called JP, my guy from the club and in a few minutes, he was able to get me Belle's location.
It was already late by the time I got to the address and she was not even in sight. I kept calling her as I drove through the street but she still wouldn't answer. My face lit up as I changed lanes and saw her wandering at a distance. I honked a few times but she didn't even look back at I parked and went after her on foot.
"Belle, Belle!!" I called out. She finally looked back and my heart sank immediately after I saw her face. It was obvious she had been crying for long. She looked rough, sad, and weak.
"Jeff.." She said and then burst into tears while I quickly hugged her.
"It's fine, I'm here now. I'm not going to leave you." I said gently while I snuggled her the more. I know it would make her feel better.
"I'm tired Jeff, I'm tired of it all." She said weakly in a shaky tone.
I've always known I was attracted to her, but seeing her time this made me realize I was in love with her. It breaks my heart to see her so sad and emotionally drained all the time, she deserves only the best and I was ready to give her just that.
"Let's go home. You need to freshen up and eat so you can rest and forget whatever happened." I muttered to her. I tried to pull back but she didn't and I just let her enjoy the hug till she was ready to let go.
"Are you okay now?" I asked while she gave an affirmative nod. I then led her to the car and drove home.
