Nate’s Point of View
The silence in the study was thick, pressing down on us like the weight of Everdawn itself.
Emma stood frozen, her father’s letter still clutched in her trembling hands. The words—Everdawn was never ours to claim—hung between us like a ghost, echoing off the walls of a house built on stolen history.
I watched her closely, the flickering candlelight casting sharp shadows across her face. She looked like someone who had just been told her entire life was a lie.
Because, in a way, it was.
Her breath was shallow, her fingers gripping the paper too tightly, like she was trying to ground herself.
“Emma,” I said carefully.
She didn’t look at me. “They stole this house.”
It wasn’t a question.
