Chapter Ten: A Roadblock

Miya POV

I didn't sleep that night. I tossed and turned, and the moment I felt the cold hands of sleep grasp me, my dreams were littered with nightmares that woke me up calling for Riever. The morning light brought me no comfort, instead it offered a threat of school, and a threat of socializing. It also offered a bit of relief; Riever would be there.

I drove to school, getting there a full forty minutes early, and closed my eyes in the car. I almost wondered if I would be able to salvage some sleep in there, but a knocking on my window roused me, and I saw that it was Harper.

I got out, pulled my bag from the back and asked, “How's it going?”

“Good,” Harper sang. “Couldn't help but notice you and Riever making eyes at each other all day Sunday. Care to explain?”
