After the last session, I walked with Melo to my room. She was as quiet as she usually was, but I didn’t mind. I knew she didn’t trust me. That was fine. I was her enemy, and it was only right that she was suspicious.
That thought reminded me of Ian and how distrustful he’d been. I was still kicking myself for not seeing through it sooner. All the times I should have realized he was a werewolf.
When I talked with Keaton, he explained more about what it meant for werewolves to be or have a mate. It made me think of Mari. She dreamed of something like that, but never got the chance to find a human version of it.
Not that she really would have gotten a chance. She wasn’t like me. None of the other female hunters in our clan were. If she hadn’t found a match with a hunter in the clan o……
