Thomas POV.
We couldn't find January anywhere. Eivan checked the café. Tammy told him that January's father came to tell her January wouldn't be back to work.
I made my way up to the dean's office to find out why the hell January was kicked out of school.
We both knew that she wouldn't leave us on her own accord.
" Mrs. Conners you need to start explaining what the f***s going on and do it right now!"
I was a bit distraught, having withdrawls from my girl.
"Excuse me!" she yelled.
" Sit down! Both of you!"
I turned to see coach standing in the doorway.
She stood up and closed her office door.
" I have offered January a deal, graduate early, she does have enough credits to do so, or be expelled for breaking school rules by failing to notify me that she was stranded here at school.
It's my understanding that she had a working phone and was able to call her family.
I am of the belief that she intentionally missed her flight, putting herself in danger."
I noticed she was nervously shuffling a stack of papers on her desk.
When I put my hand down on top of them to stop her from fidgeting, she grabbed them aggressively and shoved them into her top drawer.
I looked at Eivan. He was watching her too. That was weird.
"I have a meeting in a few minutes and you two are already on thin ice, so I suggest you leave my office before we talk about the playboy magazines that were strewn around the floor in the caretakers house."
Eivan swallowed hard as I looked at my feet.
We both left and immediately and turned to go down to January's room.
I turned the knob, it opened right up. All of January's things were still in there.
" Who leaves their things after graduating college? And where did the asshole, Adam go?"
We had a whole lot of questions. How did Adam convince our girl to leave us.
"Why didn't she say goodbye to anyone, not even Tammy?"
" Oh, and...what is Mrs. Conners hiding in her top desk drawer?"
" I don't know, but I'm going to find out tonight after lights out." Eivan said.
" The broom closet?"I asked. He nodded.
Eivan told me he had to talk to Diana first, he would meet me back here in an hour or so.
*******
Eivan
" Hey did you have dinner yet?" I asked Diana.
" Why, you think I'm not eating. I'm eating." She exclaimed defensively.
"No Diana, I meant I would have dinner with you, that's all."
I noticed that she seemed to be looking kind of gaunt, worse than usual. Her eyes were sunken in and she had a hollow look to her face.
" Eivan, I want to talk to you actually. I think you should stay here while I return to New York.
I'm kind of busy with the dance troupe this next week and I won't have any time to see the doctor.
But we can arrange for you to fly out, maybe at spring break?"
Typical Diana avoidance. I'd seen all before.
" Actually, can you sit down and stop pacing for a moment?" I grabbed her rail thin arm.
" Sure, yeah of course darling." She sat but her leg kept shaking.
" I am going to be in football practice during spring break, but I have an idea...why don't you just call me when you are ready? I am not going to pressure you. I'll fly out for you."
Silence.
" Diana, let's just call it for what it is. I want something else here. You have a whole wonderful life there.
I'm ready to be the better person and to be your biggest cheerleader, but our relationship has run It's course, don't you think?"
Her leg stopped shaking and she nodded.
" I think so too. I never wanted to let you down.
I want to be who you want me to be.
To be your wife, but I don't want to be tied down right now.
I've been offered a position in Paris France and I've been hedging because I would have to leave you behind. I'm so sorry."
I smiled at her. "Go to France and dance baby. You will be great!"
I think we were both afraid to hurt one another. But we both want different things.
I want January Holmes.
Diana wants to dance.
We parted as friends and I made my way back to January's dorm.
Thomas was dressed all in black, he had a pair of J's panties in his fist.
" Tell me she left these for us to find?" he handed them to me.
I inhaled her scent.
" I hope so, because It's making me brave enough to break into my bosses office and may cost me my career. But oh damn, that's nice. Is there another pair, I want this one." I put them in my pocket.
" No, give them back, those are mine, find your own." Thomas cried.
" I'll keep them until we return, for good luck, ok?" I bargained.
" Coach we got to find her. I'm not just going to sit around on my hands while she's being bullied by the rich prick."
He snatched them back and smelled them again.
I put my hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
He inhaled her heavenly scent as he closed his eyes.
" We're coming for you baby." He said.
I grabbed the flashlight as Thomas followed closely behind me.
A few minutes later, we were pulling open that broom closet door and sliding the inner door open to step into the dean's office.
Walking quietly, we carefully opened her desk to reveal a pile of papers marked 'confidential'.
I angled the flashlight to see the documents.
" This is a non disclosure form. I can't believe it."
We decided to copy everything on the xerox in the dean's office.
Thomas watched the door.
I finished about twenty minutes later and we shoved all the original papers back into her desk. We heard someone.
"Was this light on in this closet before." we heard a security guard talking right behind the pocket door.
A man with him scoffed.
" What? afraid they will steel a broom or some s**t?"
They both laughed as they flicked the light off and moved away.
Thomas was hyperventilating into J's panties.
I held out my hand,"My turn."
I sniffed them a few times myself.
" Ok let's go to my room." I said.
" No way, I want to roll around in her sheets tonight." Thomas pouted.
" Ok, right. Better to be near her stuff. At least we can smell her." I agreed.
Though it may seem like we are weirdos, we both know exactly what her scent does to both of us.
I want her, he wants her. We are sharing her because we are best friends and we want her happy.
That's what is most important, January's happiness.
We hurried back to her room and flopped onto her bed.
I pulled out the papers and we went through everything.
" That asshole, he did this. Damn that Adam!" I said in frustration.
" She must have gone with him back to Port Bellows, her father was in on it, he was the one to tell Tammy that J wouldn't be back."
"We have to fly out to Port Bellows. I'm going to charter a jet for us." I said.
" You got that kind of money dude?" Thomas wondered.
" I got money from my grandma when she passed, just a few hundred million. Not much." I smiled.
