Achille's POV
'She's talking about us,' Our wolf whined, 'she came to see us when the fire went out.'
'We are not part of the sun god.'
'You've always been able to talk to me,' Shadow said quickly, 'Atlas was jealous that he could not talk to his wolf until he shifted.'
"It's not the same."
"What?" Anton asked, looking at me.
"She's not speaking in riddles," I sighed, knowing that I would have to admit our encounter, "after the flame went out, Skye projected herself up here to speak to me."
"Impossible," Elder Anton roared, "the fire went out for a few seconds before it came back in that white glow."
"The gifts she has" Elder Kai reminded the rest of them, "the girl was able to transport herself into the mind of another on the first day of training. She attacked the beta. And with the disappearance of her father-"
"He didn't disappear," Mira said quickly, "he left after he lost to my brother."
"You whispered something to him though," Alpha Raphael replied, quick on her heels, "I don't know what you were saying...it was inaudible, but your lips were moving."
"She's a witch," Elder Elon gasped.
"No," Elder Kai replied, looking back to a very confused Mira, "she's gifted by the moon goddess. Her powers are just on the cusp of being learned. The moon goddess can appear to those, like an apparition. It's like if you are to have a vision."
"There is too much uncertainty," Elder Elon said, shaking his head, "we cannot take the risk."
"There is no risk yet," Elder Alexandra said, shaking her head, "we don't have enough information to assume that."
"She won't even let us see her wolf," Elder Anton exclaimed.
I looked at Mira, and walked up to her, ignoring the questioning glances from the elders. I knew it was a sign of disrespect to interrupt them, but I had to find a way to help her. She was nervous, and scared. I took her hands in my own, and she looked confused. Getting on my knees, I looked up at her, and she c****d her head to the side.
'You have one minute,' I said to Shadow, 'I don't know how we are going to save her, but we have to if you believe that she is our mate.'
I felt my eyes glowing, letting her know that Shadow was peaking through.
"Ayóó'ánííníshní."
Mira looked at me, almost more confused for a moment, and I felt myself internally questioning what I had just said, until her own eyes started glowing.
"Shadow," a soft voice whispered, "you have found me again."
I felt my wolf wanting to wrap around her and protect her, but there were more important matters.
'What does she mean that she's found us again?'
Shadow didn't answer me.
'If you don't talk to me, you're done talking to her.'
Shadow growled at me and shut off the connection I felt to him.
'Fine, have it your way.'
Pushing him back I looked at her again. Skye saw that it was me and she snarled, letting go of my hands. I got off my knees and turned to face the elders, "if she will not shift, we cannot force her...she's under the moon goddess' protection. But she recognizes my wolf, and not just as mates."
"Clearly something is going on," Elder Anton said, shaking his head, "Alpha Achilles I do not know what you are trying to do here b-"
"Elder Anton," Elder Kai said, cutting him off, "We are witnessing something much bigger than us. If you are suggesting that we do something to harm the girl or punish this pack, or Alpha Achilles pack I think that may be unwise."
"I vote that we take her back to Canada so that we can assess what is going on," Elder Elon said, looking from me to the girl, "she needs proper monitoring under trained Lycans. From what I've heard and witnessed, I think this girl would be able to tear through an entire pack without much remorse. That puts her at a dangerous level."
"And you think the Lycans could guard her any better?"
Elder Alexandra glared him down, "Lycans are far superior to you mutts."
"Elder Alexandra, we are not here to argue who is better," Elder Kai sighed, "this is a matter of security for the wolves, and it's best we settle it without getting the royal family involved."
"That would be for the best," she sighed, "but I do not support bringing her back to the royals. They would think her a project to take on."
"I will take her," I offered, "my pack is going to have a treaty with her brother's pack. I will take her on and make sure we hire proper protection to keep her satiated."
"And what makes you think your pack can keep her under control?" Elder Anton asked.
"Sam," I called. He came forward with a box, "we had spoken to the shaman who said that there was a witch who could make a binding spell. We can keep her powers in check by having her wear this necklace. She can transform, but her gifts will be kept inside her."
"A necklace," Anton scoffed, "that's ridiculous."
"I quite like the idea," Elder Alexandra replied, "how sure is this witch that it will work."
"It's the same witch who created the source spells in the royals jail."
She smiled, "I'll agree to it."
Elder Kai nodded, "if this means she will remain safe."
"I don't like it," Elder Elon said, shaking his head, "this doesn't seem safe."
"I agree with Elder Elon," Anton replied.
They all looked down the line to the elder who had yet to speak the entire visit. He was probably one of the oldest wolves, easily over 150 years old, yet he looked as though he were only in his sixties.
"Elder Germain?"
He took a few steps towards Mira and then at myself. Looking at her, he lifted her chin. The two of them shared a look for a moment, and then he smiled. I felt a chill along the nape of my neck.
"You are going to have your hands full," he said, a thick accented voice gruffly chuckling, "she agrees to the necklace, but she does not like you, Achilles. She said that while she knows Shadow is her mate, she's unsure about you."
"She didn't say anything," Elder Anton said, shaking her head.
"She doesn't like you either," the man laughed, "My vote is to let her stay, and to let her go with Alpha Achilles."
"Wait," Alpha Raphael said quickly, running in front of his younger sister, "who said that I would let her go with him?"
The way he said 'him,' made me angry. We had begun to cultivate a relationship as partners, and here he was, acting as though I were scum.
'He wants to play like that, remind him,' Shadow growled.
"Condition 2 of the treaty, dear friend," I chuckled, thinking of our conversation the first time we'd met, "I choose your sister, Miracle, to come with me and be the Luna of the Dark Moon pack."
