Achilles POV
"Alpha," Sam said, following after me. I didn't stop. I didn't know what to think. How is it that I spent years never once thinking about my mate, and suddenly when she's thrust into my life, I may only have days before the elders kill her?
'She's powerful,' Shadow said proudly, 'she deserves to be with us.'
'She's not in control of those powers,' I growled at my wolf, 'What if she harms our pack?'
'Are you worried that she's more powerful than us?' Shadow asked me. He sat down and looked at me, almost judging me, 'Are you afraid that your mate is going to be better than us? Is that why you are running away like a scared little mutt?'
"WILL YOU BACK THE HELL OFF!" I yelled out loud. My wolf raised his brow, and I realized that I had yelled out loud. Sam, my best friend and Beta was staring at me.
"I'm just making sure you're okay."
I sighed, feeling all of the emotions I didn't want to feel. Admiration and love for my mate, anger at the fact that Shadow was right, and guilt, for taking out my aggressions on my best friend, when my mate was the one that assaulted him, "I'm sorry, brother."
"It's okay," he nodded, "I know that this must be stressful for you."
"Are you alright?"
He nodded, "I am...but Achilles, we have to talk about her...what she did-"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Achilles I can only imagine the power you'll have once you two mate...once you mark her," he said dreamily. I growled at my best friend...he had a starry look in his eyes.
"Don't talk about my mate in such a manner."
"I wish you could have felt it," he mused, "Achilles...I'm telling you. She was in my mind...but it felt so real. I couldn't look away from her. I couldn't even move. I was paralyzed. It's like she knew what I was afraid of and put it into realistic terms....she-"
"She's powerful," I sighed, rubbing my temples, "I get it."
"Not just powerful though..." he admitted, "she's not even 18, and like a switch that had gone off, she could let her wolf take over her human form...how many of us do you know that can do that with years of experience under them, let alone someone who isn't awakened."
"Do you think she's a Lycan?"
"I don't know," he sighed, "but if she is, Dark Moon will be the deadliest pack there's ever been when she's fully trained."
"If the elders let her live," I growled in a low tone.
"I will do everything in my power, Alpha," he said, bowing slightly, "I will protect our future Luna at all costs."
"I appreciate that Sam..." I admitted, "find the shaman and see what he told her...then put out feelers...find proper instructors whether they be Lycan or otherwise. She's going to come home with us at any cost."
After Sam left, I was alone in my thoughts and somewhere on the second floor. I hadn't even realized that we had made our way up until I spotted the young child that Mira was chasing on the day that I met her, "YOU!"
The little boy looked up at me, eyes wide.
He clearly wasn't supposed to be here. Looking like a kid who got caught reaching his hand into a candy jar, he came up to me slowly, head bowed.
'At least the kid knows to be submissive to a superior,' Shadow laughed.
"Yes, Alpha Achilles?"
"You know who I am?" I asked. The little boy nodded, "how?"
"You were here a few days ago. You helped my daddy become Alpha...Mommy says you are a good, but scary man. Auntie Skye says you are a mystery."
"Oh?" I asked, "Auntie Skye said that? And what about Auntie Mira?"
He laughed, "Auntie Mira goes red when she talks about you. But Skye is her wolf. She said that there is something about you that makes her fur stick on end."
I smiled, thinking about how I made my mate blush with just the thought of me.
"You aren't supposed to be down here, are you?" I asked.
He shook his head, "mommy thinks I'm in the day care...but that place is for babies."
"Well if you show me where my room is, I won't tell your mommy, daddy, or Auntie Mira."
"What about Auntie Skye."
"I definitely won't tell her," I laughed, "I don't think she likes me much."
"Oh she does," the little boy chuckled as he took my hand, "trust me on that one Alpha. Her eyes glow when she talks about you."
"Do they now?"
"Yeah," he laughed, leading me down another hallway and up a set of stairs so that we were on the third floor, "this is normally where the Gamma and Beta family lives, but right now we don't have one...they left with Grandpa Cas...so mommy and Auntie Mira put you guys up here. They were cleaning all yesterday."
"Thank you very much, future Alpha," I chuckled, bowing slightly. The little boy grinned and ran off, leaving me in front of a heavy oak door. Even from outside I could smell the Jasmine and vanilla lingering in the hall. It made Shadow want to break through, find her, and do very inappropriate things to her.
'Down boy,' I laughed. I opened the door to find the rogue I'd picked up outside of the packs edge. She was lazily lounging on the large canopy bed in nothing but a bra and thong.
"Well hello there," she purred. Her eyes glowed slightly amber and I sighed, knowing that it wasn't the same as my mate's own crystalline eyes.
"Hey," I said in a husky tone. I closed the door behind me and started unbuttoning my shirt, "I've had a very long day, so make yourself useful, and don't talk."
She rolled her eyes at me, and I growled. She bowed her head in submission, not wanting to piss me off.
'She thinks as if she's submissive you might take her back,' Shadow chuckled, 'I can see it etched across her face. She reeks of desperation.'
Sliding off the bed she made her way to me, and began undoing my belt.
