The mayor’s assistant, now visibly trembling, fell to his knees, bowing repeatedly as he pleaded. “Sir, please! Forgive me! What… what was my offense?”.
The mayor’s face remained a mask of unrelenting fury. “Your offense?” he bellowed, his voice echoing in the grand hall. “Your offense is daring to insult and attempt to humiliate a man. You have embarrassed yourself and this event with your arrogance.”
He turned to his personal guards, gesturing sharply. “Take this fool to the barracks and lock him up. Let him learn some humility!”
The guards stepped forward without hesitation, their imposing figures casting long shadows as they seized the assistant by his arms. The man shrieked, his voice desperate as he was dragged away. “Please, no! I didn’t know! I didn’t mean to—”.
The mayor, unimpressed ……
