As I drove home from dinner, frustration gnawed at me like a persistent itch, causing me to question the potency of my charming nature and Rebecca’s immunity to them.
The streets were quiet as I got closer to my house, the evening air cool against my skin, and for some reason, Rebecca’s laughter echoed in my mind, taunting me with its elusiveness.
What was I missing?
What more could I do to make her mine?
Despite all my efforts, Rebecca still seemed out of reach, making me walk on eggshells around her, like I was some stranger when I had been there for her when her idiotic husband couldn’t.
I know Rowland hurt her, but I’ve proven myself to be a good man to her, I still couldn’t understand why she guarded her heart so fiercely, subtly swatting my advances.
She had no idea how difficult……
