My aunt Morgan was my favorite relative. They called her the “black sheep” of the family, but she never cared what anyone thought of her. Mom gave her a short explanation of what had happened, and Morgan was properly outraged. “You want me come up there and bury them, Ray? I swear they will never find the bodies.”
“That’s a tempting offer Mo, but what we were really wondering is if Ray can come down early?”
Morgan readily agreed and I found myself on a bus to El Paso first thing Monday morning. It was a long ride, with a bunch of stops on the way, so I didn’t actually arrive in El Paso until Tuesday. Aunt Morgan was at the bus station waiting for me, grabbing me up in a big hug as soon as my feet hit the pavement.
