Outside the principals office
As Mel and Miles walked out of the principal's office, the tension between them was palpable. Miles's expression was stern, and Mel could tell he was trying to hold back his anger.
"Mel, what were you thinking?" Miles asked, his voice low and even. "Fighting on the first day of school? It's unacceptable."
Mel shrugged, feeling a surge of defiance. "I was just defending myself."
Miles stopped in his tracks, turning to face her. "Defending yourself? By breaking Skylar's spine? Mel, you're going to get yourself killed one of these days."
Mel felt a pang of anger at her brother's words. "You don't understand, Miles. You never do."
Miles's expression softened slightly. "Mel, I'm trying to help you. But you're not making it easy for me."
Mel laughed, a bitter sound. "You're not even trying, Miles. You're just pretending to care."
Miles's eyes narrowed. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Mel's eyes flashed with anger. "It means that you're just like everyone else. You don't care about me or what I'm going through. You just care about how I reflect on you and our family."
Miles's face went pale, and for a moment, Mel thought she saw a flicker of guilt in his eyes. But then his expression hardened again.
"Mel, we need to talk about this later. But right now, I need to get to a meeting. Let's just get you home, okay?"
Mel nodded, feeling a familiar sense of distance from her brother. It was a feeling she had grown accustomed to over the past five years, ever since the incident that she couldn't remember.
Mel's mind was a jumble of fragmented memories and nightmares. She couldn't remember what had happened five years ago, but she knew it was something bad. Something that had changed her life forever.
And no one would tell her what it was. Miles, Milo, her parents... they all seemed to be hiding something from her. And it was driving her crazy.
Mel felt a surge of pain and frustration. Why wouldn't anyone tell her the truth? What were they hiding from her?
As she walked beside Miles, Mel felt a sense of disconnection from her brother. She knew he was trying to protect her, but she also knew that he was hiding something from her.
And she was determined to find out what it was.
The kings return
Life continued as usual for Mel, despite the tension between her and Miles. She went to her classes, did her homework, and tried to stay out of trouble.
But the argument with Miles had brought up old wounds, and Mel couldn't shake the feeling that her brother was hiding something from her.
Meanwhile, Jude, the informant who had been spying on Mel, reported back to Lucas.
"Sir, I overheard Mel and her brother talking about an incident that happened five years ago," Jude said. "It seems like Mel can't remember what happened, but her brother is hiding something from her."
Lucas's eyes narrowed. "Get close to her, Jude. Find out what's going on."
Jude nodded and set out to get closer to Mel.
The next day, Mel decided to join the swim team as a way of controlling her anger. She had always loved swimming, and she found that it helped her to clear her head.
As she was signing up for the team, she overheard some of the other students talking about the arrival of Luke, William, and Blake, the owners of the school and her family friends.
"They're back," one of the students said. "And they're going to shake things up."
Mel rolled her eyes. She had known Luke, William, and Blake since she was a kid, and she was used to their antics.
But as she turned to leave, she saw Jude trying to engage her in conversation.
"Hey, Mel, how's it going?" Jude asked, trying to sound casual.
But before Mel could respond, Blake appeared out of nowhere and swept her into a tight hug.
"Mel, my bestie!" Blake exclaimed. "I missed you so much over summer break."
Mel laughed and hugged Blake back. "I missed you too, Blake."
As they hugged, Mel noticed Jude watching them with a curious expression.
"Hey, Blake, what's going on?" Mel asked, pulling back from the hug.
"Not much, Mel," Blake replied. "Just got back from summer break. We're excited to be back at school."
Mel nodded. "Yeah, I can imagine."
Just then, Luke and William appeared, grinning at Mel.
"Hey, Mel," Luke said. "We heard you got into some trouble on the first day of school."
Mel rolled her eyes. "Just a little misunderstanding."
William chuckled. "Well, we're here now, so you don't have to worry about anything."
Mel smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. With Luke, William, and Blake back at school, she knew she was safe.
But as she looked over at Jude, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
Later that evening
As the night wore on, Mel, Lilah, Luke, William, and Blake arrived at the club, ready to celebrate their comeback. The music was pulsating, and the dance floor was packed as they made their way to the VIP section.
Mel and Lilah danced the night away, laughing and joking as they celebrated their friends' return. But amidst the chaos, Mel couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her.
She glanced around, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. That was when she saw him - Lucas, the dark-haired man with piercing eyes that seemed to see right through her.
Lucas's eyes never left Mel's as she danced with Lilah. He could see the pain and vulnerability behind her eyes, and it only made him more determined to uncover the truth about her past.
As the night wore on, Mel excused herself to use the toilet. She made her way through the crowded club, but as she reached the bathroom door, a guy stepped out of the shadows and blocked her path.
Before Lucas could intervene, the guy tried to molest Mel and offer her alcohol. But Lucas quickly stepped in, his eyes blazing with anger.
He grabbed the guy and slammed him against the wall, his voice low and menacing. "Leave her alone."
The guy stumbled backward, looking terrified, as Lucas turned to Mel.
But instead of thanking him, Lucas's eyes narrowed. "You're the maid from my mansion, aren't you?" he growled, his voice low and accusatory.
Mel's eyes widened as Lucas pinned her to the wall. "Why did you pretend to be a maid? Why didn't you tell me you were the girl I was looking for?"
Mel's eyes flashed with fear as Lucas's face inches from hers. But before he could get any answers, Lilah appeared out of nowhere, dragging Mel away from Lucas.
"Mel, let's go," Lilah said, her voice firm. "We need to get out of here."
Mel nodded, still shaken, as Lilah pulled her away from Lucas and back into the safety of the crowd.
That night Mel couldn't shake the feeling as to how he found out about how she was June and what about five years ago was he talking about and why was he looking for her.
She couldn't help but feel uneasy about what Lucas said and how can she be related to him-" in what way?"
If she wants to get to the root of this she has to ask someone who was at the event because neither her family nor her friends would tell her what happened and how she couldn't remember anything .
"How is that even possible" she asked herself.
