Part 2: Dangerous Territory

This chapter was so much fun to write because it shows Alexander at his most vulnerable while still maintaining that edge of danger that makes him so compelling. The medical wing setting creates such intimate tension—Isabella literally caring for his wounds while he struggles with letting anyone see him as human rather than just a Calloway heir. Julian’s interruption adds the perfect note of theatricality and reminds us that privacy is impossible in their world. Alexander’s final warning about it being “dangerous for both of us” shows he’s fully aware that their growing feelings are putting them both at risk, but he can’t seem to stop himself from wanting her anyway.
