My name is Anna Jade, and I’m a hybrid shifter – part werewolf, and part witch. My mother is Alpha of the largest werewolf pack in North America, and my father is the most formidable warlock who has ever lived. Since theirs is such a powerful union, there has always been a lot of speculation about my twin brother and I. What abilities might we develop, and will we turn out to be as powerful as our parents?
We didn’t have to wait long to find out. My 10th birthday was the day we discovered that I’m a natural-born healer. Ten is too young for a caster's powers to manifest, and yet that’s exactly what happened. My mother was ecstatic, and my father overjoyed. He worried every day of those ten years about how Emerick and I would turn out, since he and his own twin sister had been quite the mischief-makers in their time.
On that same day, we learned that my brother was to become a pyromancer. But unlike how we discovered my power from my unintentionally helping a family friend, his was discovered when he nearly burned down the pack hospital. It was accidental, but the prospect of controlling so much elemental energy thrilled him, and he couldn’t wait to see what else he might be able to do.
He had been my best friend and constant companion since the day we were born, but everything started to change between us that day. As he became more and more of a menace, we drifted apart. And now, I feel like I barely recognize the brother I once knew beneath his new dark, rebellious, troublemaking young Alpha persona. He still has the same messy curls and shares my vibrant turquoise eyes, but he’s no longer the boy I grew up with, and it’s tearing me apart.
One morning not long before our 18th birthday, I wake up and realize what I need to do. I need to get away, just for a little while, and discover what else might be out there. Away from my pack, and away from Emerick, I can’t wait to see what wonders and adventures might be waiting for me.

I know that this was a long, drawn-out journey for those of you who have been along for the ride since the beginning, and the weekly updates were killer for a story with such agonizingly slow pacing in many places, but I appreciate you sticking with it and making it through!
