“I am sorry Marcus...I can’t help it” I said and he shook his head

“It’s not your fault my darling” he said as the first tear escaped his eyes

“So what was the test?” I asked in curiosity and wondering if he passed

“The test was whether or not I would be able to let you go if it came to that, and I failed” he said and then walked away in pain

“Marcus wait...” I said weakly just as he was about to walk out of the door

“Yes my love” he said

“Please don’t leave me” I begged, I loved Marcus and seeing him this broken made the pain I was feeling feel like it was nothing.

“Are you sure? I mean it looks like it hurts even more when I touch you or when I’m even close to you” he asked and I nodded

“Just come and lie with me” I said.

To make Marcus feel better I was willing to endure the pain for as long as I had to. I couldn’t let a strong man like Marcus allow the whole world see him broken like that.

As he got into bed with me and wrapped his arms around my waist and held me from behind, I felt the first stab of pain but I groan so low he couldn’t hear. This felt like a funny narrative of my life, I was holding Alex’s shirt tight inside my gown and Marcus was holding on to me from behind, I was literally caught in the middle of both of them.

When he rested his head right next to my neck and I could feel his every breath it was like he was taking every breath from me with every breath he took and I couldn’t breathe anymore. But for Marcus I was willing to endure this and more. He kissed the mark on my neck and all hell broke loose inside me. I was now burning from the inside out and I was sweating and shaking on the bed.

“Sabina...” he called out to me and I heard him as if he was calling from a distance

“Sabina” he called out again and this time I managed to open my eyes to see a blurry looking Marcus as a tear fell on my face making me blink

“Sabina I can’t watch you die like this...I have to do something” he said and I blacked out.
