If you've read He Will Be Mine, then you might remember Marissa - the grumpy, aloof, "mate-stealing" female warrior who has the misfortune of being assigned to a long-term position guarding the New Horizon Alpha's daughter, who just happens to be her childhood rival.

It’s ridiculous, but there doesn’t seem to be anything that I can do to relax me enough to fall asleep. I’m used to not sleeping well, but it’s usually because of waking up prematurely or having such fitful, restless sleep that I’d probably be better off not sleeping. But this, this is something else entirely.
