ALAENA’S POV
I ducked behind an old tree stub trying to blend into my environment.
I listened attentively for any sign of movement in the bushes.
He was very stealthy and light on his feet.
I held my breath, pressing my back against the rough bark of the old tree stump.
My heart was pounding steadily in my chest as I scanned my immediate surroundings, my senses sharp and ready.
The forest was eerily silent, save for the occasional rustle of leaves.
He was near. I could feel it. He was always silent, always watching—waiting for the perfect moment to make a move—for the perfect moment to strike.
A single snap of a twig.
I tensed
“Sh*t”
I cursed under my breath.
Then, before I could think or react, a dark blur lunged from the shadows.
The force of impact sent a violent shuddering through the tree stump as……
