ALAENA’S POV
We had been on the run for two days now.
The horses made us faster, but their hoof prints left an obvious trail for Sergei and co to follow.
Titus had a plan, luckily we had ridden into terrain I was familiar with.
He kept riding on the path while Roy and I took another route in between the tall trees to create a diversion.
The path was going to lead him through an abandoned Border pack village meanwhile Roy and I would go around the village and join up with him hopefully this bought us more time.
The forest was still, the only sound was the distant rustling of leaves in the wind.
Roy and I moved cautiously between the trees, our horses trotted lightly against the earth. The silence between us was not uncomfortable—it was necessary.
