Vana met Caldwell’s eyes and said, “I think you should pay more attention to the European branch of your company. Your uncle’s men are taking liberties that are way beyond the authority that they’ve been entrusted with.”
Hearing her, Caldwell sighed. She was his best friend and, in that way, he loved her.
“Caldwell,” Vana continued, “The president’s wife has no political or professional integrity. Only a girl like myself has the capability and insight to do right by your European branch. This is because, not only do I care about the business, but I also care about you, thus it is unlikely that anyone could ever corrupt me.”
As they were talking, Cyril joined them. He sat beside Vana, put his arm around her, and made himself comfortable.
