Sleep was a luxury I couldn’t afford.
Between dodging Bernard’s men, searching for allies, and keeping William from getting himself killed, school should have been the least of my worries.
But it wasn’t. Because no matter how dangerous my life had become, I still had deadlines. Professors who didn’t care that I was running for my life.
And right now, I had an economics exam in thirty minutes.
A Test I Wasn’t Prepared For
I sat at my desk, trying to focus on the numbers in front of me.
The problem was, I couldn’t stop thinking about David Moore.
I gripped my pen tighter. Why had my father trusted him? Why did he disappear?
“Five minutes left,” my professor called.
I looked down at my paper. I had barely answered half the questions.
Damn it. I forced myself to write something at least anything before ……
