Marie’s hands trembled as she held up the phone.
“You should have left this alone.”
A cold shiver ran down my spine.
William moved closer, scanning the number. “It’s untraceable.”
Of course, it was. The Broker didn’t leave loose ends.
And now, they were warning me to stop.
I clenched my jaw. They thought I would back down.
They were wrong.
Harrington exhaled shakily. “If they know where we are, we need to leave. Now.”
William nodded. “Agreed. We’ll regroup somewhere safe—”
“No.”
Everyone turned to me.
Aunt Marie frowned. “Emerald—”
I shook my head. “I’m done running.”
I met William’s gaze, my voice steady. “We make them come to us.”
William exhaled sharply. “That’s suicide.”
I forced a smirk. “Reckless is kind of my thing.”
Marie looked between us, uncertain. “And how exactly do we ‘make them come to us’?”……
