Amber's POV:
When I smiled at Sidney, hoping to show my joy, I was met with the same cold gaze. He only held my eyes for a second before turning toward James.
My happiness froze on my face. I lowered my head, feeling the weight of disappointment.
I understood—he was still angry. Even though I had apologized and explained everything in my letter, it clearly wasn't enough.
"Get lost. My gun doesn't have a conscience," Sidney said sharply, waving the weapon to drive James away.
"Fine, I'll leave." James raised his hands in mock surrender, giving in to the threat. But as he climbed into his car, he turned to me with a parting shot. "I'll be back, Amber. You'll see my sincerity. Maybe next time, I should bring a gun too."
Only after his car disappeared from view did Sidney lower his gun. His eyes set……
