‘Aren’t you going to get that?’ Everett asked.
I shook my head, ‘No, it’s OK, it’s just Hudson. We’re meant to be hanging out today, watching movies and stuff. He’s probably just calling to let me know he’s on his way.’
Everett cleared his throat, ‘Oh, OK, well, I guess that’s my cue to go,’ he spoke quickly and stood up just as fast before walking towards the door.
Confused, I stuttered, ‘Wait!’ Shooting up to my feet and wincing loudly at the pain in my ankles.
In an instant, Everett was at my side, holding my waist, keeping me from falling. He shook his head, ‘You need to rest.’
Feeling dizzy from standing up too quickly, I mumbled, ‘But… but I have more questions…’
He huffed a soft scoff, ‘Maybe another day if I’m feeling generous,’ he helped me rest against ……
