It was true that she didn’t love me. Her ignorance made it clear to me. It wasn’t that I didn’t know that this would happen, but I didn’t expect it so soon.
Lillian caressed my cheek as she advised me, “Do you know what’s best for you? Just gather your luggage and shift back into your room. I don’t want you to become that greedy alpha’s bed warmer.”
“Yes, that would be the desirable thing to do since she has no use of me anymore,” I responded.
Watching my spirits low, Lillian informed me, “I have prepared a soufflé for you. Would you like to try it?”
