Chapter 231 Thompson Takes A Bath By Himself

         While Fannie waited for a taxi, Julie and Thompson explained everything to her. As the story concluded, Thompson sighed and lit a cigarette. While they’d been talking, Harold and Anna had left along with everyone else who had been in the room with them. Dinah had joined Fannie and, by the time their taxi arrived, Julie and Thompson were the only two left.

         Julie took Thompson’s hand and suggested that they should take a walk. Thompson nodded amicably and they began to walk. They had no destination in mind, but the fresh air was nice. Even though they were in the city, there were trees planted sporadically at the sides of the sidewalk and most of them were in full bloom. There was a wind blowing, but it was a warm wind.
