Sienna’s POV:
It’s stupid, really. The fact that I didn’t see it coming. For years I’ve heard about Emma Hashimi— the scholarship student, the girl from the slums of Virginia, the nobody who managed to trick the smartest man I’ve ever known.
It should’ve warned me.
It should’ve put me on edge around her— that reputation of hers— but somehow it didn’t. It should’ve made me watch her more closely, or from a safe distance, or a greater distance, but it didn’t.
See, the thing about Emma is she talks like her mouth moves without her brain’s permission. She walks around like a two-year old who’s just taken their first steps— bumping into walls, knocking everything over. She smiles, and she jokes, and she fumes and yells, and it’s all so damn convincing. It’s all so real<……
