Before I was quite ready for it, she was back.
Breezing into the dining room like she owned the place, head high, hair cascading down her back, her bright smile flashing for everyone. Everyone, except me, of course. Not that I needed her to fawn over me or anything. I was the Alpha, plenty of women wanted me, and I only had to take my pick. I looked away from her, pretending not to notice how she seemed to be glowing, an after-effect of her heat that I hadn’t quite expected. I thought she would be exhausted and strung out, with a long, sad face, bags under her eyes, and weak, shaking limbs. Instead, she piled a small mountain of food on her plate and practically bounced over to the table. I thought it was pretty rude to have taken so much. Sure, the noon meal was a buff……
