Visiting my home place had unsettled me.

I knew the plan was for Ellis to take over my father’s pack when my dad eventually retired, but my father was still strong, so surely that wouldn’t happen for many years to come. Still, it worried me, that thought of Ellis invading my pack, trying to force his asinine rules on my people. Surely the Council would not tolerate his particular style of leadership, it would disrupt their joint dictatorship of the pack. I hated the council and its arcane rules, but I despised Ellis more. I hoped to hell they wouldn’t throw their support behind him.
