Andrew’s eyes darkened at her words, his expression unreadable. For a moment, silence stretched between them, thick with unspoken tension.
Then, ever so slowly, he smirked. Not the easy, playful grin she had grown accustomed to, but something sharper. Dangerous.
“So that’s what you’re afraid of,” he murmured, stepping closer.
Amelia stiffened, hating the way her pulse betrayed her, hating that he saw right through her. “I’m not afraid.”
Andrew reached out, trailing a single finger down her arm, barely touching her, yet it sent shivers down her spine. “You think if I pretend to want you… you’ll forget it’s all a lie?”
Her throat went dry. “I don’t think. I know.”
His gaze flickered to her lips, then back to her eyes. “And what if it wasn’t a lie?”
Her breath hitched.
It was a dangerous question—……
