“You act like everything can be bought,” she muttered, turning her gaze back to the city lights flashing past the car window.
Andrew smirked. “That’s because, in my world, everything can.”
His confidence was infuriating. But more than that, it was dangerous. Because a part of her—a small, reckless part—wanted to test just how far he was willing to go for her compliance.
She crossed her arms. “And what if I say no?”
His smirk didn’t falter. Instead, he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. “Then I suppose we’ll both be very disappointed tonight.”
Amelia swallowed hard, her pulse skittering at his nearness. She hated how easily he got under her skin, how effortlessly he controlled the atmosphere around them.
But she wasn’t naïve.
