Nothing could explain the sadness Karen felt. Donald's treatment plan was not effective and he was isolating himself from everyone except for Edie. Karen looked at Edie and a pang of guilt shot through her. "Yes, I was worried about Donald and since I was in the area I thought I'd stop by and check on him. Then I saw you and wanted to come over and say hello." Karen smiled politely.
Edie nodded with a smile and said, "Yes, it has been a long time since we seen each other last, Miss. Karen. We should go for lunch sometime. I'm sorry, I'm in a hurry. It's getting late and I have to get home. We should talk soon, okay?"
"Okay, take care of yourself Edie," Karen said with uneasiness in her voice. Then Donald and Karen left. Donald smiled gently and put his arm around Karen's neck. She was ……
