Leila’s POV:
After that original statement, my companion and I lapse into a strange silence. Not a comfortable one entirely, but at the same time, it’s not uncomfortable either. Instead, the two of us just sit shoulder to shoulder in a sort of companionable silence that makes me feel calm. Calm, protected and safe. Just like when the wolf showed up after that disastrous attempt at a day at college. “Are you the same one?” I eventually ask. My tone is quiet to the point it’s almost lost in the softly blowing wind.
My companion chuckles. “Am I the same what?” He asks, the wolf’s snout burying itself underneath mine so my head rests on his. Part of me wants to ask another question, as well as answer his, but most of me is torn between being afraid of this wolf - as ……
