Ash’s POV:
How did she know? How did Leila know exactly what had gone through my head before when we’d been talking? How could she be so sure? Say the exact same phrase I’d used? “How did you know?” I eventually ask her, once I’ve gotten over my shock that she knew exactly what to say.
She shrugs, a frown once again gracing her face and pinching her features. “I - I don’t know.” She sounds even more confused than before and leaves me wondering exactly how she figured out what I’d thought only moments before. “Maybe I read your mind somehow?” She gives what I think is supposed to be an attempt at a nonchalant shrug but since we’re so close I can see the way her shoulders shake, showing me she’s just as confused. “I - I don’t know. I DON’T KNOW!” She seems to get more scared ……
