Ash’s POV:
The second Leila’s presence disappears from my head I start to panic. Something I think I’m entirely justified to do since I have a sinking feeling that what both Rosa and I were trying to dissuade her from is too dangerous since it’s difficult to take back. No matter your status in our dangerously cruel world.
Taking as deep a breath as I’d allow myself I stand and run, trying to find Rosa who appeared to also be privy to Leila’s thoughts the same way I had been. Doors in the palace open and slam as I try to find either my brother or his girlfriend before I run into someone. “Sorry, I didn’t see you there,” I mumble in a rush before seeing that it’s Mara I’d bumped into.
