Chapter Six

In response to him asking if I’d like one of the hospitality assistants to accompany me to my room, I said no. “Will you please just take me up to my room yourself? I completely trust you.”

            Paul frowned. “You shouldn’t. A woman should never completely trust a man she’s just met. And not because I’m the type of man who’d ever try to take advantage of a woman who’s still intoxicated, because I’m not, but because you don’t know that.”

            “I think I do know that, though, and that’s why I trust you completely. See, if you were the type of man to try to take advantage of an intoxicated woman, I think you would have tried to get me out of the ballroom and up to your room when you found out I was drunk.
