Prologue – Opening SceneThe wind was loud at the edge of the cliff.It roared against the rocks below like the world itself was daring him to take the final step.He stood there with his fists clenched so tight his knuckles had turned white.Tears ran down his face, but he didn’t bother wiping them away.What was the point?Everything he built.Everything he loved.Everything he believed in.Gone.Destroyed by one person who promised they never would.The pain in his chest felt unbearable.Like his heart had been ripped out and left behind somewhere in the life he used to have.The memories kept replaying.Her voice.Her promises.Her betrayal.He took one step closer to the edge.The rocks below looked impossibly far away.The wind rushed upward, cold and violent.One step.That’s all it would take.One step and the pain would finally stop.He closed his eyes.And leaned forward.Then suddenly—A hand grabbed his wrist.Strong.Desperate.Refusing to let go.He turned in shock.A woman stood behind him, breathing hard like she had run the entire way up the mountain.Her eyes were filled with fear.But she didn’t let go.“Don’t,” she said.His voice came out broken.“You don’t understand.”Her grip tightened.“If your life ends here…” she said quietly.“…then mine will too.”The wind howled around them.For a moment neither of them moved.He stared at her, confused.“Why would you say that?” he asked.She looked directly into his eyes.Because sometimes the right person shows up at the exact moment you’re about to disappear.And sometimes love begins in the place where someone else’s world almost ended.
